Start of something new

I have been saying for a long time that "trying something new helps us to be happy" and advising people to aim to do at least one new thing every day. It doesn't have to be big or ground breaking just so long as you haven't done it before and you take mental notes when you are doing it.

Over the next month I will endeavor to post each day about a new thing I have done that day to show that little changes can make life a little more interesting...

Day 1: New Chicken Wrap at McDonalds

I thought I'd start this little project with something simple to show that even the most basic and mundane of things, like getting Maccas, can be made a little more exciting just by ordering something different.

My friend, who works at McDonalds, had recommended their new chicken wrap so at lunch today I thought I'd pass on my usual McChicken and give it a go. I used the touch screen to make my selection, paid, collected my number then waited. And waited. And waited. After a mildly inconvenient amount of time waiting for "fast food" I could see two panic-stricken teenagers having a discussion in the cooking area. After what appeared to be a consensus being made one of them calls me over and deeply apologises for the delay but "THEY HAVE RUN OUT OF WRAPS and the delivery won't come until tomorrow". I have been to Macca's more time in my life than is probably healthy but this is the first time in Australia that they haven't had what I wanted. I was shocked. This is nearly as bad as the time in Kuala Lumpur the McDonalds ran out of Big Macs when I ordered one. I ended up having to go back to the old faithful McChicken.

Today's entry proves that trying something new doesn't always turn out the way that you think it will but, I wasn't hurt and I came away with a story. This adventure made my life today about 1% more interesting and I learnt what happens when Macca's stuffs up... you can have whatever you want (pity I wasn't extremely hungry).

Looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings :)
